Terms and Conditions for Borneo International Marathon

Eligibility and Categories

Full Marathon:
  • Open Category: All male and female participants must be between 18 to 40 years old as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 2007).
  • Veteran Category: All male and female participants must be between 41 to 50 years old as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 1984).
  • Senior Veteran Category: All male and female participants must be 51 years or older as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 1974).
Half Marathon:
  • Open Category: All male and female participants must be between 16 to 40 years old as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 2009).
  • Veteran Category: All male and female participants must be 41 years or older as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 1984).
  • Senior Veteran Category: All male and female participants must be 51 years or older as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 1974).
10 KM Race:
  • Junior Category: All male and female participants must be between 13 to 19 years old as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 2012).
  • Open Category: All male and female participants must be between 20 to 40 years old as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 2005).
  • Veteran Category: All male and female participants must be 41 years or older as of 11 May 2025 (born on or before 11 May 1985).

Timing Chips

All participants must use the electronic timing chip provided by the organiser.

Prizes

  • Organisers reserve the right to amend prize categories and amounts as necessary.
  • Prizes may be awarded in cash or via bank transfer.
  • All prize winners must have a personal bank account and provide accurate personal and bank details.
  • All prizes are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM).

Refunds

  • No refunds will be entertained once full payment is received.
  • Confirmed registrations are non-transferable.
  • Registered runners cannot change their categories once the registration is confirmed.

Runner Benefits

  • Event T-Shirt: Provided for all participants of the 10 KM, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon.
  • Finisher’s Medal: Awarded to all participants who finish within the cut-off time.
  • Finisher’s T-Shirt: Exclusive to Full Marathon finishers within the cut-off time.
  • Finisher’s Certificate: Available online for all finishers within the cut-off time.
  • Goodie Bag: Provided to all participants.

Important Information

  • The Cut-Off Time (COT) will be strictly enforced: 7 hours for Full Marathon, 3.5 hours for Half Marathon, and 2 hours for 10KM.
  • Runners exceeding the COT will be “swept” back to the start/finish point. Refusal to comply will result in forfeiture of the running bib.
  • Race bib swapping is strictly prohibited. Violators will be disqualified, and their identities will be shared with other race organisers.
  • Runners without a valid running bib will not be allowed on the course and will be removed by authorities.
  • Lost or stolen medals will not be replaced.
  • No swapping of sizes for event or finisher tees during or after Race Pack Collection.

Add-ons

Race Pack Postage
  • Postage is available only within Malaysia.
  • One (1) Race Pack per add-on.
  • Race Pack delivery is expected 5-7 days before the event day.

Transportation

  • Arrive at the pick-up location 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Delays may occur due to the number of runners.
  • QR code must be shown when boarding the transport.
  • No refunds for cancellations.
Organiser
  1. The Borneo International Marathon is organised by Kinabalu Running Club (“the event”).
  2. The organiser reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at its sole discretion without prior notice.
Release and Indemnity

By participating in the Borneo International Marathon, you assume all risks associated with the event, including but not limited to injuries, heat stress, or accidents. You agree to release and indemnify the organiser, Kinabalu Running Club, sponsors, and affiliates from any claims or liabilities arising from your participation. This includes granting the organiser rights to use your name, likeness, and images for promotional purposes without additional compensation. By registering, you certify that you are physically fit to participate and agree to the terms outlined.

This waiver is governed by the laws of Malaysia.
