Kota Kinabalu: The Kinabalu Running Club will be organising two running events next year.

The Borneo Half Marathon co-organised with Kota Kinabalu City Hall in conjunction with Kota Kinabalu City Day will be held on Feb 4 followed by the Borneo Marathon on May 4.

Club president Datuk Dr Heng Aik Cheng made the announcement  after the memorandum of signing ceremony with its partners, Pos Malaysia Berhad (Official Logistic Partner) and Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd (Official Water & Isotonic Drink Partner) witnessed by Federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh at the Sports Industry Expo in Palm Square Centre Point on Saturday.

Hannah also expressed her enthusiasm and the events’ positive impact on promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among Malaysians.

Heng promised the two events will showcase the region’s breathtaking scenery and landscapes while providing runners with unforgettable experiences.

“Borneo Marathon stands as the biggest and longest running marathon in Borneo is a testament to its growing significance in the world of sport tourism since 2008.

“It has achieved remarkable recognition when it was listed as ranked 28th among the world’s 50 best running races by Runner’s World Magazine in 2018,” he said.

He added that as a club run entirely by dedicated volunteers, the signing of the memorandum was a moment of celebration, as it marks an exciting collaboration and solidifying partnership with Pos Malaysia Berhad and Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd.
