Am I able to change race categories e.g from 10KM to half marathon, from a full marathon to a half marathon or vice versa?
No. Changes are not allowed and no refunds will be provided if you are unable to participate for any reason whatsoever. You will still be entitled to your registration pack but there will be no timing chip and you will also not be entitled to any lucky draws at the end of the race.
Can a Malaysian runner enter the International category?
Yes, a Malaysian runner can choose to enter the International category but he/she will not be entitled to any prizes for the Malaysian categories.
Can I cycle, rollerblade or use any other mode of motorized or mechanical vehicle?
No. Wheelchairs may be allowed, subject to organisers’ approval and specific rules.
Can I follow the race if I am not a participant (in my car or by bicycle)?
Non participants are strictly not allowed on the race routes, either on foot or by any other means. The race routes will be blocked and controlled by the relevant authorities for the use of the participants only. No pets are allowed.
Can I register on race day?
No. We do not accept registration on the race day.
Can I run without a bib number?
Full and Half must wear their bib number clearly on the FRONT of their running shirt. 2KM Charity Fun Run participants will not be allocated any running number.
Can I send my family or friend to pre-register and pick up the race pack for me?
Yes. Your friend will need to give us a copy of your registration confirmation.
How can I buy photos?
Marathon photos are sold at RM10 each and will be sent via e-mail after the event. Please indicate in your entry form. Official photographer will also have a booth set up on race day, and purchases can be made there at the same price.

How can I review results at the end of the race?
Online results will be uploaded within 72 hours after the race.
I am not running but I would like to cheer my family and friends.
The race starts and ends at Likas Stadium and you may support your friends and family anywhere along the route but you are strictly not allowed to be on the route itself.
I have paid for the race but due to unforeseen circumstances, I am unable to join. Can I defer my participation to the following year?
No. We do not offer deferments or refunds
If any Malaysian in the Open runner category who finishes as 1st, 2nd or 3rd place overall, is he/she entitled to win the international prize money categories?
Yes
If I forget to bring my timing chip, can I still join?
Yes but you will not be qualified to receive any prizes, finisher’s tee-shirt nor finisher’s certificate.
Is there a station for me to check my bags in before the race ?
Yes, you may leave your personal items at the stations clearly marked as “Bag Drop” inside Likas Stadium. Runners are encouraged to leave valuables at home and to bring as little as possible with them as space may be tight on the day. Bags are checked in at owner’s risk. All items not claimed by 12.30 noon on 6th May will be transferred to the organiser’s office.

What are the types of rehydration fluids available and where are the locations?
Water stations start at 3Kms after the start point and are available every 1.5Kms. Isotonic drink stations start at 6Kms and are available every 1.5 Kms.
What do I get as BIM2012 runner?
At the pre-registration race pack pick up, runners will be given their goodie bags, running bibs & timing chips. Upon completing the race within the respective category time limits, runners for all categories will get a finisher’s medal, finisher’s tee-shirt (except for Fun Run) and finisher’s certificate (except for Fun Run).
What if I am injured during the race and far from any medial support station?
There will be medical back-up crews on motorcycles and mountain bikes who will have radio communication with the stations and they can be identified by their vests with the words “Medical Support”, “Marshalls” or “Officials”. Please stop them for assistance.
What is the average Temperature during the race?
Generally throughout the year, weather in Kota Kinabalu ranges from 29°C during rainy/cloudy days to 34-35°C during hot sunny days.
When and where can I pick up my race pack?
Collection at Suria Sabah and the date will be announce once it is finalized.
When is the application deadline?
Early bird registration for the Borneo International Marathon 2012 will be available until 15th February 2012 and normal registration will be available until 30th March 2012.
Why is there a time limit on the marathon?
Participants are strongly encouraged to finish the race within the stipulated time to relief traffic controls and to facilitate the prize giving and closing ceremony without distractions. Only full marathoners who have not completed the race after the full race time will be picked up by sweeper or medical support vehicles.
Will there be washrooms and showers provided at the finishing area ?
Yes and they will be properly marked out for participant use only.
Will transport be organized to and from the venue?
